Does ShieldBlock work on Brave and Opera GX?

Yes! Brave supports Firefox extensions natively — install from addons.mozilla.org exactly like Firefox. Opera and Opera GX — install from the Opera Add-ons store. Both work identically with zero configuration changes.
Do I need an account to use ShieldBlock?

No account needed, ever. The free version requires absolutely nothing — no email, no sign-up, no password. Install and it works. Pro plan users receive access instructions via Instamojo after payment.
How do I pin the ShieldBlock icon to my toolbar?

In Chrome: Click the puzzle-piece icon (Extensions) in the top-right → click the pin icon next to ShieldBlock.

In Firefox: Right-click the toolbar → choose "Customize Toolbar" → drag ShieldBlock to a visible position.
Ads are still showing on some websites — why?
Troubleshooting
ShieldBlock blocks 200+ ad domains on the Free plan. Some newer ad networks or site-native ads may not be in the current blocklist. Here's what to try:

Click the shield icon and verify ShieldBlock is enabled (toggle should be on)

Hard-refresh the page: Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac)

If ads persist on a specific site, email us the URL at shantanubinekar2007@gmail.com and we'll add it to the blocklist

Pro plan users get a 1000+ domain list — upgrade to block significantly more
The counter shows 0 — is ShieldBlock working?
Troubleshooting
A counter of 0 means either the current page has no matching blocked domains, or ShieldBlock is paused. Try visiting a major news site or any ad-heavy page — the counter should increase. If not:

Open the popup and check the toggle is ON

Navigate to a new page (the counter resets per-tab)

Try disabling and re-enabling the extension in your browser's extensions page

Still 0? Reinstall from the store — this fixes 99% of cases
Does ShieldBlock slow down my browser?

No — it actually speeds up your browsing. ShieldBlock cancels ad and tracker requests before they download. Less data loaded = faster pages. Most users see 20–40% faster load times on ad-heavy sites after installing ShieldBlock.
ShieldBlock broke a website — how do I fix it?

Occasionally a legitimate script might be blocked. To temporarily disable ShieldBlock on a specific site:

Does ShieldBlock track my browsing history?

Absolutely not. ShieldBlock runs 100% locally on your device. We collect zero data — no URLs, no browsing history, no analytics, no crash reports. Your stats (blocked count) are stored only in browser.storage.local which only your browser can access. Nothing leaves your machine.
What permissions does ShieldBlock need and why?

ShieldBlock requests two permissions:

webRequest and webRequestBlocking — to intercept and cancel network requests matching the blocklist. This is how blocking works at the network level.

storage — to save your all-time blocked count locally on your device. No cloud sync, no external servers.
That's it. No access to your passwords, form data, or page content.

YouTube ads showing
YouTube serves ads from its own domain, making them harder to block. The Pro plan's extended blocklist includes YouTube-specific ad patterns. Free plan may not block all in-video ads.

Website looks broken after install
Click the shield icon → toggle OFF → reload the page. If the site works, a script it needs was blocked. Email us the URL and we'll fix the blocklist.
